Finally, here is my personal favorite part of the room.. the "We are Family" quote on the cabinet!

I made these cute baskets for each of the students. They will all be assigned their own number on the first day of school, which they will align with many things in the classroom (Baskets, Bank Accounts, Calculators, and Textbooks). The baskets will be used for them to store their personal papers, and it is also an efficient way for me to pass back graded papers. I can do it in the morning, then when they get to class they can check their basket for graded work. No more wasted class time passing back papers! =)
My homemade "Bulldog Bucks". They will be used as a reward system in my classroom. The students will be able to use their money to buy supplies, snacks, and/or small gift cards every Friday. The students can also choose to save their money to buy better items!
Here are their "checkbooks" used to balance their accounts. Every time they make a deposit or withdrawal they have to document it in their checkbook! This way, not only are they earning items, but they are also practicing life skills which are aligned with the math standards!
This is what did in each checkbook. The have to document every time there is a deposit or withdrawal (Date, Description, +/-, and the Remaining Balance). Fun Fun!
The "Finished?" poster is hanging on the wall, over a container that holds the "Task Sticks". When they are finished with all their classwork, they refer to the board. First, they are to finish any make-up work, then complete all homework, and when finished with everything else, they get a "Task Stick". I posted a picture of my zebra task sticks below! They are great! They have a variety of educational activities on them that will give them something constructive to do until the bell rings! The choose a task stick.. and off to work they go! =)
I decorated the side of my file cabinet with my two favorite things.. Zebra and Teal!
The colored rectangles are pockets, each labeled with a week. The pockets will hold their daily writing prompts. I wrote 100 "High School" writing prompts on individual index cards and on Tuesdays and Thursdays they write for the first 20 minutes of class. The used writing prompt then goes into the pocket. If a student is absent, when they get back he/she can look in the pocket and what he/she missed! (Perfection!)
